ABQ Funeral Homes is an independent price-transparency project run by Josh Eldred, an Albuquerque-based researcher. We are not a funeral home and are not owned by any funeral home. We publish real, sourced prices for 50 New Mexico providers across 13 cities — including 29 with published direct cremation prices — so families can compare costs honestly. It is, and always will be, free for families.

I am an Albuquerque-based independent researcher focused on New Mexico funeral price transparency. I build and maintain this site myself, reading published price lists and provider data so families do not have to make a dozen calls during the worst week of their lives. I am not a funeral director and I have no financial stake in any funeral home.
Why This Site Exists
Most families overpay for a funeral or cremation — not because they were careless, but because prices are hidden. Funeral homes rarely post prices online, and a grieving family rarely feels able to "shop around" hour by hour while planning a goodbye. The result is that the same basic direct cremation can cost a few hundred dollars at one provider and several thousand at another, just a few miles away.
This site exists to fix that. We collect each provider's published prices, put them in one place, and rank them honestly so any family can see — in seconds, for free — what a service should actually cost near them. No appointment, no sales pitch, no pressure.

We are independent
ABQ Funeral Homes is not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any funeral home, cemetery, or national funeral chain. That independence is what lets us rank providers by their real published prices — cheapest first — without anyone leaning on us. A provider can never pay to change its listed price or move up our price tables.
How we stay free for families
We will never charge a grieving family. To keep the site running, it is supported in two honest ways: optional featured listings that providers can pay for (clearly marked, and never affecting our price rankings), and connecting families who ask us for help with funeral homes near them. We would rather tell you this plainly than hide it.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Every price on this site comes from a real, citable source — most often a funeral home's own General Price List, which the FTC Funeral Rule requires every provider to make available. Each listing shows where its prices came from and the date they were verified.
Prices change, so we ask families to always request a provider's current price list before deciding. If you ever spot something out of date or wrong, please tell us — we want to fix it. Read the full process on our methodology page.
